Are they still hammering the perch on Oneida? We're thinking of heading up this Friday, but haven't done well there the last few trips. Is it worth the drive? Thanks & Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Hey Chris,
I haven't been hanging around the board much lately. I did see Gilligan in town the other day but he disappeared before I got to holler at him. I haven't been to Oneida this fall (or anywhere else for that matter) but my brother is going up for perch sometime this week. If he tells me how he did I'll make certain that you hear. From past experience this is a great time to be up there for perch and so far this week the weather has been pretty good. Good luck if you make it up. Bill. |

Hi Bill..I assume that you mainly fish Keuka, but shouldn't the perch be starting on Seneca by now as well as Oneida? The walleye fishing here on the Susky hasn't warmed up yet. I go through 100 fish between keepers! It should start picking up soon, but while I'm waiting, I may as well stock up on perch. Keep me posted if you hear any reports! Thanks & Good Fishing, Chris

Chris,
The perch should definitely be good at Seneca. They probably aren't as schooled up as they sometimes get in early spring but they generally bite good at this time of year and they're nearly as big as in spring. Fred, Thought I saw you at Erway's with a young lady. I didn't want to bother you while you ate so I was going to wave and shout when I saw you pay but I must have been looking away because I looked over again and you were gone. By the way, I bought the place up on the Oswayo, I think that I told you about it. Very nice for the family and most especially for me. My season HAS been brutal between moving, selling my old place, work, which is really, really busy and running a marathon three weeks ago. I'm ready to hibernate. |

Hi Bill,
Sounds like your haveing a tough time squeezing the fishing in with all the activity going on down there, hope things lighten up this winter so you can make a few trips to CNY to fish TULLY, ONIEDA or any of the other waters up here. I took particular interest in one statement you made in your message, about the marathon. I had planed on doing one this fall but couldn't get my milage up enough in training to feel comfortable tackling the 26.2. Drop me a line and tell me about your race experiance, I would be interested as I plan one for the spring( hopefully). witch one did you do? Spare no details!! Scott_Davison@suth.com |

Was wondering what town to use for a base. I injoy using Lindy spinners, small jigs with mister twisters. Do you use minnows or artifical lures. Only have Sweet 16 Bass tracker to fish out of.
