HPD 2-23
It was a zoo. Didn't count the boats, but there were alot! 13th street was a parking lot - thank god for being early and the 4wd. It's no wonder, the fishing is still good. Caught 50+ between the 3 of us. While looking around, the boats located around the island and the first set of poles had the most success. Tied off on the 1st pole above the pole with the sign. Had an interesting run of crappie bass catches - 6-7 big crappies in the boat. Also caught a perch and a mud puppy!! The remainder were sauger - no walleye. Some big sauger - mostly dinks though. Dead rod almost out fished the jig & minnie. Caught a few on blades, and various jig colors - char was #1. The fellas on the pontoon boat next to us were having a blast, catching tons of fish and cooking out - got me to thinking of buying one of those - what a blast. Had to leave at 1:30, the grillin' on that boat made us hungry, and the fishing shut down. Enjoyed my last trip for the year to HPD - It's time for the steelhead and Pymie.
