Anyone been to devils lake the last week? If so what is water clarity, temps, pressure, etc.? Are the walleyes active and if not where can one go to pick up some decent size fighting Northern Pike? Please help ASAP as I'm leavin' for there on Saturday during the rush weekend!!!

The fishing is starting to pick up finally. The water temp on the west side is getting into the mid 50's. The east part of the lake is running about 6 degrees cooler as of yesterday. Clarity is very good and fishing pressure very low. You can fish all day and hardly see a boat on this lake.
There are some nice walleyes and big pike coming out of the shallows. Pitching cranks, jigs and slip bobbers with leeches are all working. The hot spot right now is Pelican Lake as the water is warmer up there and there is some excellent shoreline up there. Pitching cranks to the shoreline in and around trees is your best bet and will produce walleyes as well as the large notherns. Hope this helps. Ryan |

Yes, it is Devil's Lake, North Dakota. Thanks for the advice and I'll see if others going along on this trip are willing to try some of these tactics.
