does any one have any suggestions for the fall bite at chatfield?
a local guide told me that he had no idea and hasn't figured them out yet and hasn't been able to catch any after july**.
would like to get the wife onto the eyes ,perhaps perch also.
i find it a tough lake to figure out.
thanks for any info.

Night trolling the dam is usually pretty good in fall. Daytime, I have no idea. I did catch a small one two ago weekends during the day trolling down the middle of the lake.

Wishin' for rain in the 303.

Folks,

I'm planning to go out to Chatfield this Saturday. Any ideas on what lures to use when trolling? I was there a few weeks ago and caught a few Rainbows casting Rainbow/Gold Kastmasters. Also caught them trolling skinny Rapalas and following the minnow schools. We plan to go in the morning. Any advice appreciated!

Well, fishing on Chatfield was pretty slow for us and the others we talked to. After a day of fishing, I caught 2 15" rainbows, a 12" rainbow and a baby smallie. Nothing in particular worked the best, but I caught them on Matzuo cranks (perch and shad) and rainbow/gold krocodiles near the dam/north dock, the green/red marina entrance buoys and near the channel in the no wake zone. The good thing is that the water temp was about 60-63 and there weren't many pleasure boaters out today.

Would be interested in hearing how it goes for others...

Regards,

Trolled around on Saturday for about 4 hours. Didn't catch anyting but a tiny smallie. Did find a huge school of shad or something just north of the bridge right on the bouy line, but nothing bit.
