Called Red Door on Mille Lacs and they said they had 9" of ice and 11" closer to shore and not very much rain so the ice was very good.

The temps in the Brainerd/Mille Lacs area have hovered around freezing and have not negatively effected the ice conditions. But it ain't gettin' any better either. If we can get by for the next week without snow, forecasts are showing that we most likely will gain at least three inches or more....putting it at a foot or so, by Christmas. There are slushy puddles on the ice today at Mille Lacs. It looks like March but it IS GOOD, CLEAR,SOLID ice. 8"-10" thick. The Mille Lacs ice sheet expanded again yesterday due to warming temps and shook the cabins in earthquake fashion, leaving chandeliers swinging in my living room. Watchout as you cross the cracks!
