Will be going up to Lake Gogebic for the weekend. Could I please get some help with a fishing report?? I am planning on trolling and am looking for some help as to baits and areas of the lake to concentrate on. Thanks for the help!! Tim

If the Mayfly hatch just started I'd try drifting (if you have some wind) with crawler harness & a size 1 or 2 hammered gold blade. Or try trolling with same setup. If they short bite the ends of the crawlers off attach a stinger to the back hook but let it swing free (Don't hook into crawler) & cut the crawler off even with the stinger.
Good Luck, I envy your trip. Pat Cavins |

I just fished there on wed morn.before the rain came.I had just gotten setup and hit a 17"er,after about 10 minutes the rains and wind came.Went in to wait it out and after about an hour decided to head back out. Fished about an hour and an 18 came to the net. Then the rain came down hard and called it a day. Both fish hit on a #8 perch shad rap 100ft back.I was over the mud flats staight out off the east shore landing which should be around pabst bay I think.I marked lots of fish out in the mud.Of course some were cisco but still lots of fish. The last two times out ALL of the fish we have gotten have been on the perch pattern shad rap.If you are setup with boards take a couple of people with and set out a nice spread and cover the different depths. There are some nice fish to be had out here.Good luck.

I Fished on Gogebic on fri. Wasted most of the day trolling from Montgomery Bay to the south end. Then went further north and trolled the east shore and picked up 6 fish, in about 2 hours. 3 - 18", 2 - 16" and a 14". All came on crayfish shad raps, 120 feet back on a #8, and 100 feet back on a # 9 going 2 mph on the gps. Fish came out of 26 - 30 feet of water. Ran alot of other colors in both shad raps and deep juniors over the course of the day, but this is the only bait that worked, and the only area that produced fish. Targa

The fishing sucked up north.Well maybe not that bad but it was real slow.Managed to get about 15 eyes only one legal. The rest were all 14"-14 1/2" Trolled the shorelines on the east side until a few fish were caught and then we drifted the same area.Trolled with shad raps and Dj thundersticks.Did not mark many fish until we got into the 14ft depths. Put the camera down and would'nt you know it mostly suckers.Found a couple of small rock piles not on the maps that will pay at a later date. The scenery was just great so all in all a good time.I could not believe we could not mark a fish out in the deeper water. This should have been a prime time to fish.Stable weather for 3 consecutive days, full moon and a cold front coming in.Could'nt have asked for a better situation.Maybe we should have fished at night?Fished on Vieux Desert for some panfish and the wind was whipping pretty good but did ok on some nicer sunfish and a few gills. The weeds are starting to lay down too.Lots of people up too.Later

Have you tried jigging slabs? That should work well now.

Unfortunately my brother lifted the anchor and lost it about halfway through the day and we were religated to drifting and trolling. We had just anchored on a deep rock pile and had a few small fish going. And the wind was blowing pretty good too.He added more line to the anchor and it must have came unclipped from the hook.Oh well live and learn i guess.Anybody else fish this lake in the fall?Only saw 2 other boats all day.
