Marc, I have not been up for two weeks, but will be this weekend. I'll be searching for some bullits somewhere between Lorain and Avon. We'll be on 79.

Default Silver Bullet Search

Jay and others,
Weather permitting, I'm planning to make a run NE of Lorain to look for some Steelhead this saturday. My belief is we are going to have to run pretty far East, maybe as far as the 50W line, and maybe farther North than we have been going. I may head towards "the hole" which I believe is 55N 50W. Hoping to find them closer but again weather permitting, I'm planning to run whereever I need to in order to find them. The more boats we can get looking the better and that far out - everyone should be more comfortable sharing numbers as there won't be several hundred boats jump the spot like what happens in close anywhere W / SW of about 40N 10W. We will be working on channel 79. Hoping to get several boats to join the hunt.

I was out tuesday looking for steelhead. I fished out of Avon. We fished the from 40 to the 42 north, and 00 to 05 west. This time of year that area should be loaded with steelhead. We never had a hit. Lots of big white bass and sheephead. I ran four riggers from 60 to 35 feet, and four divers. We were only looking for seelhead so we kept the speed up high from 3-4mph. My temp at the rigger ball is being fixed so I cant give you my down temp, but judging from the garbage fish we caught, I would say that it was high. I talked to some guys that were 20 miles north of Cleveland. They had about the same report. We need some stable weather to set up the thermalcline. Untill then, I think its time to go to lake Ontario. The bullet fishing is nothing like last year, thanks mother nature.

Steve, if I can't make the 50 mile run to Erieau, I'll join the steelhead hunt too. I plan on starting at the 45/00 and will head e/ne from there. A friend of mine fished Erieau, and got me pumped to try over the border.

The walleye are still great out around the sisters( west/middle)
Last time we sorted thru 40+ fish in 4 hours to keep 24( 17-24inch)
When does your party start, Alex said something about it.

Mike,
Sounds like a good starting point. If everyone spreads out in the morning someone will get them going.

Also don't forget to run something way up high.

Steve, Sounds like they are calling for some flat water this weekend. We will be coming from Marblehead, but we leave before daylight. We should be setting up around 7 am in that area on Saturday(depending on if we need to stop for fuel)and working NE. Might just get a transient dock for the night if we find some fish. Two summers ago, we did extremely well in August heading due east off Cedar Point until we hit 65 FOW. I have the numbers on the boat, but if I remember right, we could see Cleveland. Their out there, I'll join the hunt!

Jay,
It is definitely out there - especially coming from Marblehead! I'm going to get a slip in Lorain on Friday evening and run from there.
Talk to you on channel 79. New boat is the blue Contender Center Console. You won't be able to miss it. I have a link to a pic posted over on Boats & Motors forum.

Talk to you on channel 79.

FreeByrd,

What model Contender did you get? I got the 21 this year and love it (need a kicker though).
