Default Kinzua

Heading to Kinzua for the first time this Sat. and will be camping at Willow Bay. Anyone care to share any fishing info for this time of year? After this exploratory expedition this weekend, I hope to get back for 4 or 5 days later this month. Thanks!

Gilligan, Do you think this weekend would be a bad choice for me to check things out? How many boats are you talking about in this tourney? Thanks!

Hopefuly Jigging5 will catch this post and give you an update as to how many boats will be fishing it. Thought I heard around 90? Lots of good guys in the club may not be a bad weekend, I'm sure if you get there after weigh ins they will pass along some good info.

Shellback,
I can't answer the number of boats that will be in the tournament. Last evening I was out with my partner and a friend. I spent the evening looking at fish though a camera. I saw Walleye's roaming all over the upper end of the lake. Most were smaller ones but I did see one hog and a few good ones. The lake is polluted with lake Erie size perch and large White Bass. I estimate that the guy's with me caught 7 walleye's (small) and 4-5 beautiful perch a real nice smallmouth and a nice White Bass also all in about 2.5 hrs.. Don't let the tournament scare you off.. there is plenty of room for your boat also. Try dragging jigs tipped with half a crawler or minnows. Our rules meeting is Sat. at 6:00 pm at the Corydon hotel about 3-4 miles south of Willow Bay. Stop by and look for the Silver f150 pulling a white Tracker Tundra and I will give you a bit more information. Oh the Corydon Hotel is offering a $ 7.00 Prime rib dinner after the meeting for everyone. Good luck and enjoy you stay.

Thanks for the replies guys. Jiggin 5, you say your rules meeting is Sat night? Does that mean the tournament is on Sun? Perch will be fine for me also. I just want a relaxing time on the water. I'm over in Susquehanna county PA, which is about a 3 1/2 or 4 hour drive to Kinzua, I believe. I'll be coming across RT17 or is it RT86 in NY in the early AM Sat and think I'll go home on Rt6 on Sunday in the daylight hours. Thanks again for the info and if I'm not on the water Sat evening I'll try and look you up at the hotel. I've got a 2002 Dodge quadcab with a white 16 foot Grumman behind it.

Shellback,
Yes, the tournament is on Sunday. If you see a white Tundra on the water Saturday, that will be me so come over and say hi. Also if you plan on stopping by the Corydon hotel, I won't have the boat at the meeting. My name is Paul and everyone know's me so ask around and you will find me. Hope to see you on the water. Good luck!

How are you jigging5? Just wanted to wish you good luck this weekend. Hopefully you can manage the big fish this time. Free mount I hear. My fall spot out of Webbs is starting to produce a few nicer fish if you can remember where I told you I fish alot. Mostly on minnows though. Been getting myself off of the crawlers since the weather has been changing from all the heat. Let me know how you did after the weekend.

Jiggin 101,
Thanks, I can't recall where you fish in the fall. Is it where I have seen you and Ritter fishing? We are still getting fish on crawlers. This is going to be a fun tournament (No pressure). I will let you know how we did.

Jigging5. Yes it is. Don't be afraid to hit it. If you catch a nice one though you are going to have to take me out again sometime to try and find me a good one. I'm still looking for my ten pounder up there. Actually right now I would settle for an 8 pounder. Sounds like it will be a pretty fun tourney. Wish I had a good boat to fish it with someone. O'well, in time I will. Then I can go up and fallow you around. Just kidding. We all have to find our own spots. Have a good one. jiggin 101
