i have been to both lakes off and on through out the ice season. fishing has been slow for most. traditional places have been fished hard with mediocre results. i have spoke with the everyday, old timers and they tell me that the fish are feeding heavy on the shad and that numbers of walleye and crappie are there just not hitting well. i happened on to a fair bite last weekend at the celery farm on Shenango and saw some nice fish taken in fair to good numbers by a half dozen guys. for the most part i think the fishing pressure has been light this winter. i can't wait for ice-out and open water. good luck to all for the remaining ice season. gary u

spoke to a guy that just came in off of the RT 846 (hartford access) area nd he had 50 10-11" crappie. he got them on a jig with minnow. these were the best i have seen all season. he said that it was quiet all day and at 3:00 for about 1.5 hours they just wouldn't stop biting. he had a nice batch of fish and he had a great time by the looks of his smile. anyone else have any luck?

Yeah, i did. I was at golden run/ shenango lake. I kept 22 crappies, all over 11" and threw back a couple dz that were smaller than 10". I also kept 5 gills that were 8" and 7 perch that were from 7 1/2"-12". I was in 10ft water, 3ft off bottom, with a jig and minnow and a sliding bobber. Had a good time for my last day on the ice. Ice is 8" where we were fishing. My buddy got and kept 47 fish. He'll be there in the morning. enjoy these last few days on the ice and please be careful out there.
