Default Rainy Lake??

Ging up to Rainy first week of June. Where are the fish this time of year? What are the hot presentations? Hoping to do some trolling. Will be camped half way to Kettle Falls.
Looks like the Canadians have all the good islands and water.
Thanks.

Default RE: Rainy Lake??

Your asking the right question! As of today 4/29/04 the ice is only out in the bays. The main basin is really dark and the wind is helping break it up. You'll be fishing post spawn for walleyes, most females will be in transition, 12-20 ft. close to drop offs. resting and feeding. I would vertical jig, (emerald) tiped with shinner. The males will be still crusing the shoreline, post fertization. Dusk is really a great time to land some nice fish. ( eaters ). 6-15 ft. The lake is deep and it takes awhile for the water to get up and running. Most of the walleyes are moving back from shallows to the 20ft. region. As far as trolling goes, deep driving cranks, I like blue and silver. Cranks really dont get going till end of July. Remember, head for the rocks off points and Island when it windy, cast jigs into the wind and toward rock piles. take a day and fish Namakan, stay left and held north into the narrows on the Border, small situation as Rainy. I'm just one guy out there, hope this helps.

Look at this site www.fishingminnesota.com. You can search through the site and there is a site for Rainy. Fishmiester will give you some good advise. Phil
