Going to be on the Detroit River Saturday, can anyone tell me if the bite is better in Trenton or Wyandotte? Taking my brother out who hasn't fished the river in over a year so I'd like to at least find a few eaters. He doesn't have a canadian license so i'm stuck in MI waters. Anyone else going to be out? I'll be in a Red Lund 1900 Dual console.

Some pretty huge storms moved through the area last night and this morning. The most intense activity was to the south, so I'd guess you'd be better off targeting the northern portions of the river.

On top of the storms, we've got some pretty stiff N/NE winds following the front through that have the potential to muddy the outlet of Lake St. Clair and consequently the whole river.
That being said, I still plan to be at the Wyandotte Ramp slightly before first light Saturday, in a Blue 1775 Lund ProV /115 Yamaha. Fishing has been pretty good lately. |

Hey Guys!
Despite the storms that rolled through on Sunday and Monday we are still doing great on the lower river. We went 10 for 14 on Sunday Night in the middle of pouring rain, wind and the lightining. Dropped the first rig in the water around 7:30 pm and called it quits around 10 pm. Surface water temp was 54.5 degreee on sunday and the water was stained. Fished again last night (May 10, 2004) in more rain, wind and lightining. The 80 plus degree temp and the rain brought the surface temp up three degrees. After waiting for a small storm cell to pass through we fished from 8 pm to 10 pm and ended up with 5 nice fish. Also fished the river on May 2nd with a buddy and we caught a two man limit from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. All of the action has been on #7 and #9 Raps in the brighter flourcents. More specifically, Clown, Charteuse/White and Firetiger patterns. Minimal success with Silver/Blue, Blue Holographics, Vampire, Black/Gold and Black/Silver. Many anglers have been saying that this has been the worse year they have experienced. So far this has been on of the better years that I have had fishing from Mid March to Early May. |
