I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME HOW WEEDS WILL SHOW UP ON A DEPTH FINDER. IF THEY DONT, HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOU'RE FISHING THE EDGES OF WEEDS. CAN'T ALWAYS SEE THEM OFF THE SIDE. I USE AN EAGLE OPTIMA.
HOW DO YOU DO IT? THANKS IN ADVANCE |

Weeds usually show up as a series of verticle lines or a cluster of semi-archs. One way to fish a weed line is to determine what depth the weedline occurs and work that. Another way to do it is to use two transducers simultaniously, one narrow cone and the other a wider cone like a 50 degree or so. When weeds appear on the wide but not on the narrow than you are on the weedline.

For me , the simplest way to read weed lines has always been with a flasher. I use zercom, but lowrance makes a good one too. It may be that I grew up using them on weedy lakes, but I feel more comfortable reading them. I still have LCD/LCR graphs, but when in weedy areas, I rely heavily on my flasher.
