I have never fished for Steelhead on Lake Erie. I have been trolling for eyes for three years and have herd lots of talk about the great steelhead action. I will be going out of vermillion, Lorain or Huron on Sat. afternoon around 3:00 and will also fish on Sun. Any and all informaion will be appriciated and I will be glad to work with anyone on the radio or cell (614-395-4750).
I pretty much have the program from other posts, just looking for recent locations of the fish. Also, where would be the best place to put in? I will check back a few times today and this evening, then I will be on the radio at 3:00pm Sat. CH. 79 Thanks, Eric "I just want to hear a reel screaming and see a fish jumping" |

Thanks. I have been reading all recent posts. I am hoping to get some info from someone who fished for Steelies in the last couple of days. Are they still around the area? Any numbers? Where should I put in for the shortest run? Eric |

Shortest run for steelhead would be the Avon Point Ramp. I don't have any more recent numbers than what is posted in the other thread. Very close to the stacks. Best bet is to call Craig Lewis at Erie Outfitters in Sheffield Lake - his place is about a half mile west of the Avon Ramp. Even better would be to stop in before heading out and get the straight scoop from him and any tackle you need. He opens at 5AM. 440 949 8934.

Unfortunately I am not able to get out today Friday, 7/9 or the weekend otherwise I would give you an update. It has been my experiecne that once the Steelhead start showing up in the Lorain area, they will typically be there from 1 to 2 weeks hitting fairly constant. Therefore, I would suggest starting around the 41-40/09-08 line and work east of those numbers in your search. I had good luck with the Steelhead in a previous post I listed for Monday the 5th around these numbers. Today and tomorrow look to be an excellent day for a trip and I only wish it would work with my schedule. It is a blast to hook up with these bullets and I hope you have a good day.
Best of Luck, Hit-N-Run |
