Brion,
Reports I've had have been kind of spotty so far but it's about that time. For the best info in that area call Craig Lewis at Erie Outfitters in Sheffield/Avon. Craig's shop is about a half mile West of the Avon ramp on route 6 south side of the road. Tell him I told you to call if you do. 440-949-8934

Thanks Steve , I know Craig, I usually stop in when I'm in that area, was just trying to see if anyone knew of anything happening. Some guys I work with wanted to go find some big ones. I think they have some kind of perch tourney this weekend.

Was oout yesterday off of Fairport, and as you say small fish. Caught over 100 kept 30, three fishing. Was checked by fish management agent, he also said that carters guys told him the big ones are, deep deep at around 70ft. who knows, as charters are very selfich in telling anyone if they catach anything, but I do not care they can keep their secret spots, as I have more fun finding spots by myself. We were off fairport in 50ft. of water, just north of the hump, which is a heading of 300 on the compass out of Grand River. You can find the hump easily on this heading, just watch the depth finder, and watch for the drop.

If you want the bigger fish, come east. From Conneaut all the way to the Pa. line, we're catching big perch. Most are 10" and better. 65 ft is the best depth. In Pa., the walnut area is giving up bigger perch than that. And guys are getting limits of eyes in 35 to 45ft water on harnesses.
