Default Lake Pepin

I have a friend that wants to meet me at Lake City to do some fishing on Lake Pepin. I have never been on this piece of the Mississippi, but I have heard of some good things. I do know some of the landmarks such as Camp Lacupolis(?) but only from what I read here and from driving by..

Any pattern that I should be looking for? Points....bars? I heard that they like to do a lot of trolling, but prefer jigging and live bait rigs....but hey, I am flexible.

ANY help will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

I've got an uncle that spends the summer up their (stays in Bay City, WI)that does pretty well trolling cranks on the breaks around Maiden Rock. Usually targets the 10-13' range using jointed Shad Raps & don't be afraid to troll up around 2.5mph.

Spent a few days last week at Pepin. We also fished the Maiden Rock area. The depths we keyed on were 10-14 ft of water....this seemed to be where the majority of the fish were staging. If it was calm.....they were on the deeper side....if some wind....they moved shallower. Our best cranks were jointed shad raps....and firetiger by far outproduced everything else except when it was real sunny. Speeds were fast....to the tune of 2.7-2.8 mph. It seemed if we went any slower...couldn't keep the sheepshead of the cranks. Sorted through a lot of fish but eventually put some real nice fish in the boat. Good Luck to you.
