Default Vermilion last report---------pulling the boat

Went out to the boat for a 4 day vacation. Out of the 4 days got out on the lake for one day. Monday--found the fish at 33-24. Very slow fishing for me. Started at 29-29 and trolled west to 33-24. Only got 2 small eyes in 4 hours of trolling. By the time I got to where the bite supposedly was I was so burned out that after I trolled thru the pack without a bite I pulled the lines and went to 33-17 for perch. Nothing there so I move a mile or so to 32-17. Found the perch and went up and down for an hour or so for a limit of decent perch.
At least I could catch perch.

Sorry to say this but this has been a very discouraging season for walleye for me.

Since late may I havent caught a walleye over 20inches. I consider myself a good fisherman and I am almost ready to throw in the towel!

Advice: Troll your rigs at 30-35 feet down at 1.8-2.2 mph. They seem to bite silver this year so try some of those. Pooh bear chartruse and pooh bear are catching fish in the smaller spoons. Shrimp was the hot color for me and I wish I would have had 4 of them.

Big dipseys on a 3 setting 80-85 back and on a two setting 60-70 feet back were catching fish.

Water clarity was good starting at about 3 miles out. 33-24 was where the charters were trolling on monday. they seemed to be doing fairly well with fish coming in bunches with slow periods of 2-3 hours in between flurrys.

I hope to read some better reports in the near future. Please report all.

Good luck and I hope to talk to you all next year.

Paul, Amanda Too,good luck to all and be safe out there.

Amanda too, it's been a a liitle different this year with the water temps as high as they were. I think that alot of people expected the fish to be in the same place as they were last year (lorain),but they just did'nt stay there. If the weather next year does what it did this year, go east! We found alot of fish east of cleveland this summer. Most of the fish we got this year were in the deeper water in conneaut and ashtabula. I fish with alot of different guys out there, so we try and keep up with the fish and where they are. If you're ever out and you hear me on the radio give me a shout. Ive met alot of great guys out there and we all work together to find them. It makes a big difference when your not the only one trying to find em. I'll be on the water as long as it is'nt frozen, so give me a shout if you make it back out. The best is yet to come this year. Good luck and tight lines

So would it be safe to say the fish are still in Ashtabula (Eastern)area for a short while longer.I thought there was a tournament last weekend in the Huron area, or was it canceled. I havn't seen any reports. How about ya Longspur.
