NW Angle Report
Good day!,
Just returned from a one week stay at the Anlge, stayed at the NW Angle resort (Grumpys). New owners, very nice and accommidating. This was my third year. We fish the Mn side only. Perfect weather for the whole week, very little wind if any. Many fish caught and released between 19.5 and over. No fish over 28" were caught. Bottom bouncers with nightcrawlers were the ticket. However, we ran out of live crawlers, and for the last two days gulp nightcrawlers were used and fishing was still excellent. Actually I prefered the gulp. Just for kicks one day, I used a jig (3/8 with blade) and a gulp leech, worked great. Fished mostly reefs, and the larger fish were all caught on top or near the top of the reefs 5-9 ft of water. Lunatic reef and Garden island reef were the best. Made some long runs, but with no wind was not a problem. Some of the party cranked and also did well. Even the 15" fish fought as though they were 20" fish. It was a Great week! A special thanks to Kevin and Lori Luksik for being great hosts!
