Lake Fishing Report
Updated 10/13/03
Very consistent walleye bite over the last week on Leech Lake with the main lake point of the lake producing good catches. Trolling crankbaits in 8-11 ft. of water over these rocky bottom points, such as Pine, Stoney, Ottertail, Two Points and Sugar is catching walleyes. Morning and evenings have been the best times although a day bite is taking place when the wind has been blowing in or in 10-14’ of water. Good catches of walleyes are also coming from the Meadows area in 5-7’ of water with Fire-Ball jigs tipped with a fathead minnow.
Perch action continues to be best near the north end of Bear Island and some in Agency Bay. Small jigs with minnows or a piece of crawler in 9’ of water is the key.
Muskies action has been boom and bust. When the fish have turned on the bite has been great with many fish reported in the upper 40 near 50” class. Although anglers are fishing all day for an active period of about 2 hours. If your on the water during those two hours…..be prepared for some great fishing!
Introduce someone to the sport of fishing this week and have a friend for life!
