The Tenth Annual Smoker Craft / Sylvan Marine Spring Walleye Classic was held March 25th and 26th in Irrigon Oregon. One Hundred and Six fishermen and women fished the catch and release event. The weather was a close to perfect as we have seen all year. Temperatures were in the Sixties with just light breezes. 

Twenty-Seven Fish were weighed in on Saturday. Ten of the fish weighed in at more than ten pounds. The total weight of all the fish weighed on Saturday was 220.82# . The average weight of Saturdays fish was 8.18#.

On Sunday 11 fish were weighed in for a total weight of 109.04#. Making the average weight 9.91# per fish. Five of the fish weighed over ten pounds. None of the teams weighed in more than one fish each on Sunday.

The total payout for the weekend was $14,559.20 in prize money. 1st place also received a fishing trip up Hells Canyon from Hells Canyon Sport Fishing. Hells Canyon Sport Fishing will be providing a fishing trip to all of the first place fishermen in all three circuit tournaments.

Smoker Craft / Sylvan paid out a $2,500 bonus to first place. 

This is the 10th anniversary of the Smoker Craft / Sylvan Spring Walleye Classic. 


This tournament is the first in a 3 tournament circuit called the “Columbia River Walleye Circuit”. The next tournament is the “High Desert Marine Walleye Derby”. It will be held July 8th & 9th in Boardman. The last tournament “The Oregon Governors Cup” will be held on Sept 2nd & 3rd in Umatilla. At the last tournament a $2,000 bonus will be paid to the fishermen accumulating the most points throughout the three tournaments.
