Idaho Walleye Unlimited

Idaho Walleye Unlimited was formed in March of 1998 and our purpose as a club has been to promote and improve the walleye fishing in Idaho. Though not known for its walleye fishing Idaho has three great resevoirs with walleye in them. Salmon Falls Creek Resevoir in south western Idaho,Goose Creek Resevoir in south central Idaho and Oneida Resevoir in south east Idaho.

Idaho Walleye Unlimited held its first tournement in May of 1998 to the tune of 18 boats and in 2004 had grown to a field of 60 boats. It is our hope to keep growing our tournement to the full field of 75 boats. We will be a Cabela's Qualifier this year 2006 and will be sending 2 teams to the 2007 Cabela's Walleye Tournement. Our tournement dates for 2006 are June 17-18 at Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir.

All revenues from our tournement and other fund raisers goes directly back into the resevoir in the forms of conservation projects for the walleye and all other species in the resevoir. We work closely with Idaho Fish and Game on all projects an encourage catch and release programs for all trophy warm water species.

Our club dues are 25.00 yearly and family memberships are encouraged. We currently have approximately 68 members state wide and are working on increasing that number.

All three impoundments in Idaho have a variety of species in them ranging from walleye, smallmouth bass, perch,to trout. Our current state record walleye is 16lbs.2 oz. caught by Catfish Bill in 1997 at Salmon Falls Creek Resevoir.Goose Creek Resevoir sports some very nice eyes in the 2 to 10 lb range.Oneida Resevoir has nice 2 to 8 lb eyes also.

Idaho Walleye Unlimited has two chapters one in Treasure Valley, and one in Magic Valley both chapters working as one on all project and summer fun events.

Good camping facilities at Salmon Falls Creek and slightly more primitive at Goose Creek and Oneida. All three impoundments are great fisheries with lots of fun to be had.
