| Story: I figured I would send these photos in for the "10 Pound Club".
This is the first walleye I have ever caught and it was caught on a fly rod while I was fishing for steelhead!
I was on the Big Manistee River in Michigan on March 27, 2004 when I got her. She was 29 inches long, 18 3/4 inches around her belly and weighed about 12 3/4 pounds according to the Bolga Grip we had.
According to the IGFA, it's the largest walleye (weight wise) ever caught on a fly rod for any class line, but since we were on a boat the weight is unofficial and it won't be recognized.
I am currently waiting to hear back from the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame as to whether or not they'll accept my application as this qualifies for the largest catch and release walleye (29 inches) caught on 8# test on a fly rod.
Needless to say, I was pretty happy with my first walleye!
