Dan Vinovitch and Rick Parrott win Illinois River Tournament

The Illinois District of Team Walleye conducted its third qualifying event of the 1999 season at Spring Valley,Illinois. Over 57 teams participated.

Dan, from Pekin,IL and Rick from Sparland out fished all the other teams by weighing a five fish limit of 15 lbs 5 ozs. They were fishing downstream of the Barto Landing slipping with jigs and minnows and when they completed the slipping section they would then pull back upstream with three ways and floaters.

Finishing second and currently leading the point standings for the state is Bill Walsh of Ottawa Illinois and Ron Cutright from Hudson, Illinois with a five fish limit of 13 lbs 14 ozs.

Third place went to the team of Tom Gemmel and Dan Kwak from McHenry, Illinois with 13 ozs 13 ozs.

Rounding out the top five places were Steve Skupkin and Walter Newman from Joliet with 13 lbs 5 ozs for fourth place, and Mark Actis and Doug Hoster from Spring Valley with 13 lbs 3 ozs finishing in fifth place.

Big fish honors went to Gary and Bruce Merkel of Spring Valley with a 4 lb 3 oz walleye.

There were 44 of the 57 teams weighing a five fish limit, with 239 fish being brought to the scales, weighing 535 pounds.
