The Illinois Division completed it's 2-day state championship on the Mississippi River at East Dubuque,Illinois on May 1 and 2, 1999. Steve Skupien and Wally Neauman of Joliet out fished the field with a total weight of 17 pounds and 1 ounce. They were primarily using jigs tipped with minnows and three way rigs with minnows. Second place was Mike Actis and Mike Stuckert from Spring Valley, Illinois with a total weight of 14 pounds. Bill Walsh from Ottawa and Ron Cutright of Hudson captured third place with 13 pounds and 10.5 ounces. Rounding out the top 5 was Steve Lislein and Gerry Oberbrockling from Dubuque, Iowa with 11 pounds 13 ounces for fourth place and in fifth place were Mark Actis and Doug Hoster from Spring Valley Illinois with 10 pounds 13.5 ounces. Big fish honors on Saturday May 1 went to John Cherry and Wayne Lowe from Ottawa with a 4 pound 7 ounce walleye. On Sunday the big walleye was 5 pounds 7 ounces to the team of Raymond and Darren Rodway of Schiller Park Illinois. Danny Vinovich or Pekin and Rick Parrot of Sparland continue to be the top point leaders in the state with a seventh place finish of 9 pounds 11.5 ounces.
