Lowrance question

When fishing live bait from my bowmount is there a way to make my GPS update faster. Whats happening is I lose my direction when trolling slow on my GPS. It seem like I have to have my 101 on at least 40% before it gives me current position updates.

You probably have your track smoothing checked on. You need to turn it off. Track smoothing was used more when the satelites were scrambled a lot. But it's no longer needed. You don't notice it when you're moving faster, but when moving slow it thinks it's a position error rather than a move. Turn it off and if you move a hair it will update. The one problem you may notice is that with it off when you're sitting still it will show you moving around a little bit. I don't have my unit handy, but you can find this option by hitting menu twice and going to either the GPS or System setup menus.

In some of the older units this was also called "pinning", turn it off and you should get much better results at low speeds.

You'll probably need to do it on those as well. I've noticed that most of the Lowrance units come with track smoothing turned on. We sell a lot of Lowrance units and that's the biggest complaint we get. I can't on the install units, but on the handhelds it's the first thing I do for people when I sell them one.
