You might be similar to my use. When I size a boat, the bow gunnel height is a huge factor because I pitch & flip a LOT.



Ranger 620 & 622, Vexus DVX22 & DVX19 & Lund 2075 Pro-V all have bow gunnels under around 9-10" so pitching & flipping works pretty well. The 16' Lund Impact has about a 15" bow gunnel-- can't really easily pitch/flip from that boat.

I've watched a plethora of other boats pics & vids & Yarcraft, Warrior + others look like they have really deep bows. 2 boats ago my bow gunnel was 16" or so making pitching/flipping a nightmare. I had to retrofit something to get me in the air with the downside of I was that much higher off the water doing it

I just recently faced a boat reality: There's no such thing as a "do-all boat". It's more like there are only "I make it work well for me boat" boats instead. Each model has its really big plusses, matched with its really big minuses.

Bass fishing is main reason I chose my current boat, 205 comp. I can fish northern Door County, Green Bay, and Winnebago in conditions that keep bass boats on land. The 7' front deck allows my boys and I all to easily flip or pitch for bass. The rear flip down bench gives another large casting platform. The boat also doesn't seem to draft as much as a 20' glass walleye boat, and being aluminum, I dont feel the need to look at hull after touching bottom like my glass Ranger. The one negative to the 205 is the bow sits high, like most walleye boats. That makes it a challenge skipping baits under docks. I compensate by using a 7'6" rod. This allows a more parallel bait trajectory but you lose a little accuracy with the longer rod. Like always, how, where, and what you fish for dictates ones ideal boat.

FinmanPoozie Speed debates? There's the visits to the fuel pumps to consider also. The last 2 marina pumps I hit were $4.55/gal & $5.05/gal. Hammer down!!

For top end speeds, consider a bass boat 'cuz ya' won't it it with a 250 on any multispecies boat (I'm not calling them a walleye boat )

Best ride too in my opinion, flat or chop.

jcrevard I've had my 2016 2121 Warrior doing 58 with a stuffed livewell, full of walleye gear, almost full gas tank and 2 big guys with winter gear on, evinrude 300 G2

Sam I am I had a 2050 Reata with a 250 Pro XS on it. 8" Hydraulic Jack plate. 24P Bravo I FS. Low fuel, not a lot of gear, super cold day in the late season on Devils Lake. Running downwind on 12" waves. I was skipping across the tops and the boat was flying a lot more than it was floating. Terrible, I mean absolutely terrible, hole shot but knew that was going to be the case with a 24". I saw 64.3 gps. That's the fastest I ever got that tub to go and it was a handful to drive in that configuration:
jackplate to the moon and trimmed up. A lot of chine walk and not for the weak at heart. On long runs you could really dial in the motor height and trim position to the points that very small changes would either scrub or add speed.

I usually ran a 21P Tempest + and that was a pretty dang good all around prop that would give me 58 to high 59 depending on ambient conditions and load.

If you plan to fish with two men on the front deck you might look at the shape of some front decks.

I retire in about 8.5 years and plan to get a retirement boat. For the most part I like to cruise around at 35-40mph but I do like to crank it up when the situation calls for it. I want to fish more bass tournaments when I retire so a 250hp will be max for me. My buddy has a 2014 620 with a 250 verado and a 9.9 kicker.
