Interesting to me is that although I am familiar with all of these terms, I rarely use them. I “troll Rapalas, Rogues, J-Plugs, etc.”
How can you troll a crank bait??? Doesn’t the “crank” indicate that you are “cranking” (reeling)???
We humans love our slang for sure.

|Baseline||I must be weird.... I pull cranks and throw plugs. Some of them are the same baits.|

|Dacotah Eye||I used to pull "plugs", then I pulled "plastic"and now I pull "cranks". Same question no matter how you say it. "What kind?".|

|Peckhead||I have never seen a bottom bouncer that would bounce either.|

|Mtfish||When I was a kid 25-30 years ago, we called the thin floating and diving Rapalas, Rebels and Bombers "plugs". Crankbaits were the short, fat wobbly things that bass fishermen use.|

|Custom Eyes||Another question: Which came first, calling them hooks or plugs? I still get a chuckle out of guys that call or message that they're sending in some "hooks" to be painted. First few times I had to verify "You are sending in crankbaits, correct"? lol|
