REW GBS,

Remove your seat, give the top of the seat post and the inside of the seat a liberal coating of silicone grease. You will no longer have any noises from the seat.

Take care

GBS Quest seems like it may be moot. Supply chain shortages for these items, as well as everything else in the recreation world.

My old 1.77" post system is being discontinued - not in the current Attwood catalog, although still available from others. Apparently with more modern safety testing standards, they are only rated "B", meaning only to be used if boat is going 5 mph or less (!). Many of the "238" posts are the same, but they do sell "AO" (Operator - captain seat) and "AN" (passenger only) rated posts and bases, some moveable. But good luck on finding them in stock anywhere. I found some in Australia - but shipping is a bit high!
Springfield and others only vaguely note, sometimes, what their systems are rated for (mostly "B").
The seats themselves are not so much an issue, but of course I want ones that match the old color scheme, which means custom work. Not ready to spend $250+ each for 4 for this old of a boat, considering the actual use it gets....so I'll stick with what I have.

Franco Cialone If you have a 238 style post and base, they have a plastic sleeve that can be replaced, Attwood sent me a new sleeve years ago when my original Lund dealer would not provide me with a replacement for mine.

Seat and post replacement suggestions

Old Alumacraft, with the original Swivl-eze "Snap lock" seat posts.

For being over 20 yrs, old style "flat" folding seats still in decent shape. But comfort in long days of fishing leaves something to be desired. They've developed ear piercing shrieks as they swivel, despite attempts to lube/fix. And those snap lock bases can amputate a finger when trying to insert if one isn't careful. Plus the chore of trying to unplug at times...

So, time to replace. Looking at folding seats, swivels and maybe upgrade the posts to height adjustable. If bases have to be done too, so be it.

There are a huge number of possibilities out there. Any recommendations for something that will be a reasonable "upgrade", but not overkill for a well used 20 year old boat?

What folding, move-able seat and systems do you like?
