Thank you REW Hopkinz, I'm going to give it a shot. The simpler the better. Jimordway, as I understand. Two bags give better stability. |

jimordway | why not just run a 48" bag under the boat tied off the bow? | |

I hang the bags off the cleats and I never had a problem with them being in the way. Just keep the big end pointed towards the bow and you'll be fine. ![]() Hop |

The advantage of having the bags under the boat, is that they are under the boat. i.e. when you turn, and or land a fish, or cast a line you do not have to worry about a bag being beside the boat. Also, by having the bags under the boat, the bags tend to pin the bow in place so that the wind does not blow the bow back and forth as you troll for the fish. Be safe |

Diesel Pro, thank you. Hopkinz, I want to make it as simple as possible. I just want to be able to troll without worrying about the bags being in the way. But I do need to run the bags. Jeff |

I'm pretty sure that is how I used to run mine. To me the ideal way is to have a loop on each end to secure to the cleat. The one end of the rope would end in the loop while the other would be long enough to allow you to wrangle into position. I'll probably be revisiting this setup myself on my new boat, but for now I'm just going to run them individually. Each I is a loop. First to cleat, next 2 to bags and fourth is to other cleat. Last I is optional. This would get you absolute repeatability I---------I---I----------I------------I |

Here are two pictures of the setup I'm talking about. So I just use one line off the bow? |
