Merc 15 kicker troll speed

Been tempted to replace my 2005 Yamaha t8. I would like more charging amps and EFI starting. Not sure if the 15 hp would troll slow enough on my Lund 1875 crossover. Can it get down to 1.4 mph.

A 5 pitch is not unheard of either. I would suspect the EFI will idle down better than my carb motor with trollmaster. Bob

I'm not 100% on this, but I want to say my 15 EFI trolls down to about 1.5/1.6 in calm water on my 621. it may be a bit quicker on an 1875? maybe not? I don't know, but I'd think it would be borderline for sure. The 112 ulterra does all my calm weather work in the 0-1.2 or so mph range unless its windy then I use the 15 EFI with the ulterra steering to get there...I'd rather not listen to or have the fish hear the motor so I rely on my ulterra a lot if possible...particularly on calmer days and shallow water.

On Oahe last week there were 2 days when I was pushing pretty hard with the kicker(19 on the troll master) and steering with the ulterra to get to 1.0...then 3 other calmer days, it was 7 hours on the ulterra either with or against the wind at .8-1.1 bottom bouncing...

I'm guessing re-prop a 15EFI(if that's possible and will slow down enough?) or stay with your 8 to be on the safe side if that's what you are contemplating? Get a jump starter or jumper cables if you are concerned with running out of battery power?

how much does the 8 troll down to?

Maybe I will just have to wait for a Merc 9.9 efi. Or get my dreamboat warrior 208. My T8 can get down between 1.3 to 1.4 depending on waves. I do use my 24 volt motor xi5 when lindy rigging slow. Cold water fishing I sometimes do troll crankbaits at 1.5. Normally 1.7 tp 2.5 mph.

I get .9 on my 15 efi on 621. 3 blade 8 pitch

Is the Merc 9.9 not available? To be honest the 15 EFI and 9.9 EFI are same weight, same gear case at 2.15 ratio. Basically same everything according to the specs online. Should be able to make either one do same with the same prop.

Suzuki EFI is another option.

That's what I would do. Get the 208 and be done with it!!!

Tohatsu makes a good kicker too. Tohatsu builds all Mercury outboards up to at least 20hp I believe. I had one for 12 years and never had one issue with it.

Mercury 9.9 kicker is still carbed. I would not switch unless I went to EFI. Suzuki does have a 9.9 EFI I think. I have heard it is a little on the loud side. My work income has gotten to be an issue the last three or four years. Virus did not help prices. My warrior 208 needs to wait.
