Best Trolling Rig For Walleye?
 

Hi - I'm planning to start trolling for walleye in the coming weeks, and would like to get a recommendation on the best rig(s) to use. I got some lindy weights, and was planning to setup a lindy rig, but are there better options I should consider?

The Lindy Rig is great for trolling eyes, but I personally prefer running a bottom bouncer because it gets less snags than a Lindy.

Longline Shad raps and flicker Shad.
Also bottom bouncers with spinner rigs and whatever bait or soft plastic you prefer.
Those are my go-to rigs for reservoirs out west.
Your mileage may vary depending on where, when, how, and why you fish.
Without any insight on the above, the recommendations you’ll get here will be of limited use.

Love running slow death rigs. Bottom bouncer or inline weights
Also harnesses and tadpoles for the suspended eyes
Boards and Bandits are the goto on Erie early
then dipsys and spoons to get deeper

I say it depends on the time of yr and the water fished. so for now let's say large cranks on wire fishing Erie. cranks can be fished several ways and catch eyes on Erie but a wire is number 1. my ist choice is sunspot bandit but blue and chrome is almost as good.

On Erie you can't go wrong with in-line planer boards, 2 oz in-line weights and worm harnesses

we were fishing harnesses with lite bite slide divers which worked pretty good but we switched to large spoons and cranks on the downriggers. we were a lot cleaner and covered a lot more ground. with harnesses, our speed was from 1.8 to 2.0 but with the cranks and spoons, our best speed was from 2.7 to 3.0 covering more ground.

then I went out with a friend for 3 days running nothing but cranks on wire and 2 dipsies. I was constantly reeling in fish on the wire. all 3 days we got started around 8 and caught 12 keepers before noon. and the last day we had our 12 fish in 1 hr and 15 minutes. that's the time we set our baits until the last fish was in the boat. but even on the slow days, 4 hrs dock to dock wasn't bad.

I have always had the best luck with a shad rap
