Looking to buy a new HB unit is the 788 worth the extra $150.00. Thanks in advance for your input.

Yes, the 500 series does not have the power of the 788 so the resolution/picture is not as clear. I believe both have the same pixels, etc but it is the power/watts that make the big difference. Neighbor bought the 500 series for the bow as he had the 788 on the console and took it back. He could not believe the difference in picture quality bewteen the two.

They are essential the same unit, exact same display, resolution and power, but the 700 series is networkable,has dual memory card slots, three menu presets and ContourXD maps preloaded.

I couldn't have said it better! Think of it like you're getting $400 (4 x reg hotmaps cards) worth of preloads on the 700 series.
