I've got a 2006 FM165. Have 3 batteries center rear. 1 for starting and the other 2 for an 80lbs Terrova. Boat still does well. Most I've fished with have been 3, mainly 2 and I still average 33MPH...

Check the fuel pressure regulator hose. If it's coming loose you can be losing power. Also, if you lose it completely the motor will just crank and not turn over.
