What you are referring to is an "Outfitter Lake". Yes, you can carry a canoe into the lake, however you can not leave it overnight. This is the classification that most "fly in" lakes fall under.

NW Ontario is under a burning ban. No fires at all!

They called and advised us to inform our guests.

I don't know about other areas, but the Nipigon region is REALLY dry and water levels low....

Just got back from Nipigon. The lake is still socked in, but the peripheral tribs are starting to show signs of life. Pasha Lake itself (usually one of the last inland lakes to go in the region)...

For our kids, we rub vaseline behind their ears, on the neck and hair line. Works great! Doesn't necessarily repel, but it does prevent them from biting!

Tested it time and time again. When searching for fish, use the live stuff. Once on an active bite, you can switch to plastics and do well. Rarely (i.e. never) have I seen plastic out preform...

Tried to open up the drive way last week and still too much snow... dang Lake Nipigon lake effect stuff. Hopefully this week. If the weather keeps up, we'll be open in the next 2 weeks or so.
