Been using the 1/2"x ? plastic labels from the Dymo 1570 label maker.
They seem to work well on the plastic lure boxes and just about anywhere else.

Only reason I could see if the transom had a lip on the top of it and the jack plate would not fit flush, then you could add a spacer plate.

Had to do that with the Larson I have.
