try a piece of pool noodle perpendicular to the rod handles. If sized right it will get compressed between the lid and the rod handles and keep them from being able to bounce out.

Strange color pattern on Pike

Caught this northern yesterday. I have never seen a pike colored like this. Looks like a pike dressed up as a crappie. Has anyone seen one like this before? Any idea what causes it?
