I'm a rod builder and just checked the weights of the blanks. At 6'3", MLF, the weight is the same for both blanks, 1.5oz. When you get longer, 6'6" or 7', the elite banks will be around 0.25 oz....

I've tried them all, many of them anyway. My two favorites right now are the Shimano nasci and the Pflueger xt. I've got four xt's and three nasci's . Never had a problem with any of them.
