Mercury debuted the new 4.6L V8 platform in 2018, but they didn’t hit the water in any real numbers until 2019. What’s that, a little less than 2 years ago? I think it will prove to be very reliable, especially as Mercury works out the bugs over time the same way they did with the L6.

The L6 Verado has been around in some form since 2005, the 350 and 400R have been around since 2015. They’re proven. Period.

Good points!! I only have around 100 hrs so far so it's too early to tell.

I did get Mercury's extended warranty though-- $9,000 to extend it 5 yrs (or maybe a total of 5 years??) I saw $9k and my eyes bled a bit
