Probably needs some experimentation to verify effectiveness. I nominate you.

Ya Right, bear would stuff that tazer up your arse, then tear you up for lunch. Depending how big you are, he may come back for seconds.

Taser makes (or use to make) a Taser for animals. They posted a video of Taseing a bull back in 2007. I don't think it would ever work. First you have to get both probs through the fur to the skin. Next if the bear breaks a wire it will not work. Last watch the video as soon as the as the Taser in done sending juice, the Bull is up and mad. What are you going to do with a mad bear.

Tasers only reach 35ft. If you find yourself 35 ft from a mad bear, You better hope you have something other than a Taser.

they would OBVIOUSLY have to design it specifically for big animals,i was thinking of a walking stick with 2 6" barbed spears that are built into the end, when you shove it to the bear the spears come out and pierce the animal, thus shocking it

Default Alaskans

Reminds me of the story by an Alaskan guide when asked about a handgun for defense against bears. After some thought a big spit of snoose into the fire he said, "I'd recommend getting a pistol without a front sight". The outsider was puzzled and asked why should he do that?
"So it does not hurt so bad when we have to pull it out of your a$$."

You could always turn the tazer on yourself. The bear attack might not hurt as bad if you're incapacitated.

But honestly - we only have black bears around here. As long as you don't get near Momma/cubs, they are pretty shy. I've stepped out of the combine door many times and told them to get out of the way so I could harvest corn. In daylight, they are already gone. At night, they look at ya and mosey off.

I think it would work, if it used a .308 caliber or better to deliver the taser and cable.

In the heat of the moment the bear will probably not respond well as in become incapacitated. Even after numerous fatal shots a bear can go minutes before keeling over. I would like to see the guy who is willing to test this bear stick out lol
