Mounting bow depth finder
I have looked at many boats but have never really noticed in detail where the best place to mount your bow depth finder. I have a ulterra on the left so do I want my Helix 7 centered or shifted more right? I'm using a tall ram mount, can you be too tall? Thanks

I suspect this is a matter of personal preference. My friend has his bow electronics flush mounted. I have mine tucked in up against the vertical wall between the casting deck and the uppermost deck where the trolling motor is mounted.
Your style of fishing may dictate how and where you mount the display. I do a bit of everything, trolling, casting, vertical jigging, drifting. I find having the unit low and out of the way works quite well for me. No issues seeing the display and I'm not constantly changing the controls. |

I set mine to the right a bit. I used a Cisco Tilt-Lok tall mount. https://www.ciscofishingsystemsltd.c...cs-mount-27064
The height is low enough that I don’t have to worry about hitting it when tossing lures all day, but high enough that I can easily see it. In my experience with Ram mounts, if it’s not super tight it will move when you are boating in rough conditions. That’s why I personally opted for Cisco mounts. Also, if you have a boat cover make sure to check beforehand that the mount won’t interfere. https://images.platforum.cloud/uploa...826fd8bdde.jpg https://images.platforum.cloud/uploa...bd59d14ad4.jpg |
