Default Interesting Lake Erie Day

Trying Lake Erie walleye fishing again on September 19th but didn't`t work out as planned
Sometimes the weather forecast is just garbage. According to them was supposed to be a calm day

The waves may have been left over from the big blow on Friday.

We were in 60 to 70 feet of water. On a calm day maybe a 10 or 15 min ride. Took double that or more to get back lol

Yeah. Funny because on Lake Ontario on much windier days itís not as wavy as Erie. I go to Erie lots of times during the summer for tubing and swimming but never for fishing so I know how it can get.
And another funny thing is I tend to get a bit seasick on Lake Erie. Any other lake no matter how rough it is I donít get sea sick except Erie.
Anyone else experience this?

Wind direction is extremely important when fishing Erie. Checking buoy reports before leaving home could save you a long ride for nothing.

I myself do not get seasick on Erie but maybe it happens for you there because the interval in between waves is so short. That's why the 2-3 foot Erie waves every 2-3 seconds are tougher to be in than 5 foot rollers that come every 10 seconds somewhere else. Erie is just so shallow it can become a real mixing bowl out there.

I have been wanting to do Erie for a long time and avoid it for that reason. I hear from a lot of people about trips ruined. Two years ago I was supposed to go and could not, I did not miss anything as they told me they sat in the cabin most of the week. Decided they were going to get a charter on Sunday morning of that week, I decided to get up at 1AM to drive and join, so 40 minutes away I get the text that it was cancelled. Seems that is a body of water you need to have exceptional boat skills.

I fish mainly inland lakes aside from Green Bay the UP or Canada but no experience with some of the conditions I see in video's and things I read about Erie
