Default Lake Erie * This Weekend ?

Trying to decide if it's worth a run up to Lake Erie for the weekend.....have friends in Cincinnati that may join me, though I'm hearing the lake is chocolate from all the rain and run-off.

Heard the bite is good though you have to run out to the 38' or better depth to get clean water.

Any thoughts on Sat or Sunday ?

thanks,

Rich B

If you're concerned about going out 38 FOW, you may not want to go at all. Sounds like you might have a smaller craft from that comment. Look at the NOAA report for Erie this weekend (link below). I have a 621 Ranger and there is no way I'm going out. Beginning of the week had Saturday at 1 foot or less but that's changed significantly. Keep an eye on the wave report because that could all change at the drop of a hat. If it looks like they're saying, I'll be staying inland.

.SATURDAY...NORTHEAST WINDS 15 TO 25 KNOTS BECOMING NORTH 20 TO
25 KNOTS. THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY. SHOWERS LIKELY. WAVES 3 TO 5 FEET
BUILDING TO 4 TO 6 FEET

No way I'd want to be out there in that.

Default Thanks......

I appreciate all the information......I run a Pro-V 1900 and I won't be heading out given this forecast for the weekend.

Looks like a July weekend will now be in the plans (I hope).....

Getting worse if you can believe it. Building from 3/5's to 7/10's? I may drive up just to see what that looks like. LOL

And now, 9 to 12's. Might have to break out the 14' flat bottom Jon boat (6hp) for tomorrow. I'll be able to surf and troll at the same time. Stay safe people. Hit it next weekend.

If you are fishing the Western Basin, you will need to run 14 or so miles past North Bass.
