I had the same issue with my old Scotty (plastic) rod holders on my 215X. However, with the right size metal clamp on a metal handrail, I’ve had good results.

The 7/8” jaw slides, now that they shipped me the right ones, are perfect. I also just received a set of Cisco rail mounted rod holders. They are fantastic and they are machined with such tight tolerances they are immovable even before you completely tighten the set screws.
