Default Simon and Garfunkel

Lot of us probably remember the group. One of their favorites was the "sound of silence". This group that sings it....never heard of them or heard them sing. But after listening to it...kinda makes the hair on your neck stick up.

Gave me goose bumps...thought it worthy of sharing.

Their version is the first song on my "Fishing Playlist", and has been since they first came out with it years ago.

It's usually playing when the sunrise is happening. My customers all like the song and their version of it.

Disturbed first did that on Saturday Night Live. That's my favourite version. He can sure belt it out.

And while we're at it, K D Lang does my favourite version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"

Heard that for the first time a few weeks ago, a co-worker had it cranked-up in his office next door.

Well done! HRG

That link is the singer from a metal group. Here is the original version.

X2 ...agree...not really close !

I like Disturbed. David Draiman is great . However their version was gratuitously embellished to the point it actually LOST the darkness of the song ,that Simon and Garfunkel's version meant it to have. Disturbed's version to me,just sounds ,at first pretty dry and lacked any feel of the deep and even lonely sadness the original had, then it escalates to something that sounds like some guy that's just pissed off about stuff. As good as Draiman is,, It totally missed for me.

For a great retrospective on the mid-60's sounds, check out Netflix for "Echo in the Canyon" documentary.

I'd forgotten how good some of those songs sounded.

I really like this Pentatonix version of Hallelujah. (No instruments)
