Let's not forget where this song originated from, the 1967 movie The Graduate. It was a movie on the edge for it's time and created a lot of controversy. The movie brings meaning to those haunting words. Disturb's version is good as but like a lot of things, it's easy to find things to fit your style. Grab the movie to see the context, Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft, Katharine Ross, all to the music of Simon and Garfield. The soundtrack was a huge hit. Are you going to Scarborough Fair, And here's to you Mrs. Robinson, Heaven hold a place for those who pray..............

I like both versions. Which one I would prefer to hear would depend on my mood.

I grew up next to a bunch of older cousins. One of Simon an Garfunkel's albums was my first. I was
too young to remember the movie or its context but S @ G were tremendous. Disturbed does a great new version of a great old tune. |

The original version sounds like a soulful lament. Disturbed's version sounds like a protest song. If I could play a guitar, I'd enjoy performing either version.
Speaking of Simon and Garfunkel songs, one of my favorites is "A Poem on the Underground Wall". Two minutes of remarkable tempo, guitar work and poetry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEEQWPfjv1U

I remember taking in the movie, back when it first came out -'67?, brings back a lot of memories. Pure class in the song writing of those hits.

I generally avoid remakes. All too frequently, for the style of music I listen too, it's a band desperately trying to appeal to a wider audience by producing a "softer" song.
I do love hearing a rocker like David Draiman belting it out. His voice is awesome! |
