Default Question for Jason H or another HB expert

Hi Jason or another HB expert

I have an 18 foot Mr. Pike and had a Humminbird 898 installed last year. It is GREAT! On the front I put my old Lowrance 334 and used the universal transducer in my Minn Kota V2. Finally have gotten tired of the 334 not working except on occasion and ordered a Humminbird 788. I did not get the one with down imaging.

I want to use the 788 in the front when on small lakes, but be able to move the 788 to the console by the 898 for mapping on Lake Michigan and Lake Erie or other big water. My thoughts are I can use the features on the 898 such as the down imaging, side imaging, 2 D sonar etc, and still have mapping on the console.

Is there a problem doing something like this? Is there a better way to do what I want to do? My store has my ethernet cable and adaptor and also the extra base.

Am I going to be able to do something like this without a lot of problems. Planning on a professional install.

Thoughts appreciated.

Paul C.

Buy, 2 Ethernet cables. One 10 or 20ft for the run to the bow and a 2ft one to use at console when you have both units there.
Enjoy the nice units!

Great idea and easy to do. Like stated, get 2 ethernet cables and an extra power cable. Use a Ram Mount or something similar and put one on the bow and one at the helm. IT's easy to move the unit.

Quite straightforward and easy to do. The above suggestions are spot-on.
