Any more: No Where.

The pandemic has sucked up all of the reasonably saleable boats - in the hands of eager buyers just wanting to get out of their homes and do something with their loved ones.

It's early. Tons of boats are in off-site storage where they can't get to them until April. The supply will increase in a couple weeks.

Well, the number of used boats and cottages "for sale" listings are at record lows here in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. I've been told new boats are on back order due to lack of production parts. The boats are cast at the factories but the fittings needed to finish them are unavailable and back ordered just like in the Auto Industry. Used boats and cottagers were a hot item last year and today, inventories are down. Will the numbers pick up in a month or so? Maybe, but the numbers this March are way lower than in past years.

At this time of year there are usually dozens if not hundreds of cottages listed for sale on the lake that I live on. Today, I'm not seeing any and I was just told by a friend who's about to list one of his that his realtor told him there's only one cottage listed on the whole lake. The prices they were getting last year were through the roof. Feast and famine driven by free money? I don't know but one thing is for sure, just around the corner both the rent and taxes will come due. I've learned over my lifetime "there's no free lunch" and I can't help but wonder how big the developing famine will be when reality hits home.

It may just be that tillers don't make up a high percentage of the overall market and most of them are 14 to 16 foot models. I saw a listing on C-list for a 1875 ProV listed in Warba MN. Have to agree that prices are high. This boat was 92 (29 years old) and listed at $9,500.

There are hardly any used for sale by me, and what is for sale is 50-100% over what they would have sold for 2 years ago. I'm talking a 1995 16' deep v with a 40hp tiller selling for near $10,000.

I spoke to a lund dealer and he said there are no more boats to be ordered, if you want one you better find one on a showroom floor or hope they get enough orders to open another shop to make boats... but sold out until 2022 is what I was told.

Any boat on the showroom is marked over msrp and I seriously doubt they would do any haggling.

Funny story last june I looked at a 2005 16' smokercraft with a buddy who was interested, in central MN. They wanted $10,000 and it was in ROUGH shape, he passed. It sold in a week. About 3 weeks ago on facebook I saw the exact same boat for sale (I took pictures, the scratches matched) for $12,000 and it sold within hours. Pretty sure that person fished with it last season and sold it for profit.
