I had the same blowout issues with my 1875 Crossover 150 hp merc went from a 19p tempest to a 17p merc rev4 prop fixed the problem. Its crazy how good the boat will corner now. Kids are much happier tubing. Prop guy told me not to run a Aftermarket 4 blade and try save a few bucks I am glad I listened and went with the rev4.

I just bought a new Rev 4 17P on ebay for a screaming deal, so hopefully it will be my huckleberry.

How did you end up venting yours?

I only have about 3 months to think about it before the boat goes in the water.

Vent holes have solid plugs in them no holes.

So by that I assume you left the vents closed. I'll start that way and might adjust to experiment, but was curious.

Yes, closed. I was happy with the results so I didn't try and tuning.
