Default Yamaha Upgrade

Looking to upgrade a 2013 Yamaha 150 tiller. I currently have Mertens tiller steer. I am wondering if I can upgrade to a 200 or 225 and still utilize the existing tiller handle and Mertens powers steering? Anybody have any insight?

I don't have a answer but... I had a 2014 Yamaha 115 hp tiller and wanted to put a Mertens unit on it. I was told they wouldn't work on my motor. I can't remember why but it wouldn't work. It had something to do with the complete model number of the motor.

If you can find somebody who has a contact number for Tim Mertens he might be able to identify if your motor will accept it.

Give Frank Gailorreto (spl?) a call at Rock River Marine. Other than Tim Mertens, I can think of no one with as much Enginesteer/Titan-Yamaha experience.

Default Yamaha

I went from a Yamaha 115 to a Yamaha 150 and kept the same Mertens power tiller steer. Frank G. at Rock River Marine was the one that made the switch over on my rig. Call him and talk to him. He should be able to help you. Would love to know how it works out for you.

I did talk to Frank and first off he is a wonderfully helpful guy. Answered all of my questions and was just nice to talk to. As long as I purchase a newer model with mechanical controls (non-digital) my tiller handle will bolt right up. Looks like I may be getting a 200 I-4 sometime in the future.
