I use different colors and have found no difference between them

have used chrome with the black lines in it, black, purple, dark red and did not find a difference in catching walleye with any of them

1 thing I did find is that about a 10 foot leader between the dipsey and the bait made a difference, more fish with the longer leader

Color is not a big issue unless you're fishing superclear water, and fishing above 40'. In that instance I'd stay away from any of the metalic Dipsys (or Jets). Just too much flash. It spooks the fish.

I have painted ALL of my dipseys black. I have used dipseys for many years and not had a problem with color untill last season. I could not catch fish with them so I painted them all black. I caught my limit every time out after that. All the people I dock near painted them also. Give it a try.

For me, any color will work, once I've painted it solid black!

JWB, What kind of paint did you use to paint your dipseys? Did you sand them first? I have thought about painting my shiney silver ones.
See you on the water!

On eastern Lake Erie. I agree with JWB and Gillian, painted black. But my go to is shiny Purple. I've pulled a lot of watermellon also with a watermellon spinner or rainbow renowsky.

Used to have GREAT success out of PA waters of Lake Erie with Met RED dipsy, and shallow running bomber long a or jr. thunderstick in TROUT pattern, Best combo I ever used in past 15 years
