Why don`t more spinning reels have this option

The reel function with baitcast or spin is very much the same. Most retrieves are stop and go no matter the lure. Change of speed catches fish. As far as the handle the only time I do that is packing them up for a trip. In the boat they are ready to reel inside the locker. I had some with the metal buttons. No issues with them at all. Most now are not metal. There are issues with some. JMO Bob
